Our Rodney franchise was proud to be involved in the building of a new home for the Make-A-Wish charity.
The Rodney G.J. Gardner Homes franchise was proud to be involved in the building of a new home that will be auctioned off on the 8th of November for the Make-A-Wish charity. All proceeds raised above the reserve will be donated to Make-A-Wish, a charity that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. The reserve price ensures some of the costs are met, while none of the companies involved will make any profit off the project.
Granting these wishes is one way to bring hope, strength and joy at a very challenging time in a child and their family’s life. Make-A-Wish relies on donations and volunteers around the country to be able to grant wishes. The proceeds will provide ‘‘a whole lot of wishes’’ for children with life threatening illnesses, Make-A-Wish New Zealand chief executive Shane Gorst says.
The home was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday the 28th of August. This was attended by invited guests and those who were involved in the project. This property has been a real labour of love between Fairway Bay developer Top Harbour Limited, Barfoot & Thompson Whangaparaoa, and G.J. Gardner Homes Rodney Franchise. Barfoot & Thompson have been staging open homes on Sundays, which have received plenty of interest so far.
Elaine Morley, owner of the G.J. Gardner Rodney franchise, says:
“This house really is quite special – not only will it raise important funds for an amazing charity, at the same time it will provide a family with a beautiful home to live in.”
On supporting Make-A-Wish, Elaine speaks of the affect granting wishes can have on children;
“Make-A-Wish brings joy into the lives of children that are otherwise having a hard time, and it’s great to be able to give something back to help sick kids around the country.”
The district of Rodney, and the Whangaparaoa peninsula, is an amazing place to live – with great schools and beaches for the children to enjoy. Commuters that work in Auckland city can also avoid sitting in traffic jams on the motorway by making the most of the extra ferry services available to the CBD.
The house is custom designed to fit the site and features open plan living, three double bedrooms, and receives lots of light throughout.
